Kitchen Plumbing Installation in Birmingham — Fitted Right First Time

Getting your kitchen plumbing right isn’t just about connecting a sink — it’s about making sure everything works safely, efficiently, and without leaks before the fitter puts in the units or the worktop goes down. At Emerge Plumbing Ltd, we work on kitchen plumbing installations across Birmingham and the West Midlands, whether that’s a full new kitchen build, a direct replacement, or a single appliance connection.

We work alongside kitchen fitters, builders and directly for homeowners doing their own renovation. We’re flexible, we turn up when we say we will, and we understand how important it is to hit phased deadlines when a kitchen project is underway.

What Kitchen Plumbing Work Do We Cover?

Our kitchen plumbing service covers all aspects of the plumbing side of a kitchen installation — from first fix pipework runs to second fix connections and final commissioning:

  • Kitchen sink installation — single and double bowl, Belfast and farmhouse sinks, undermount and top-mount
  • Kitchen tap supply and fitting — mixer taps, boiling water taps, filter taps and spray taps
  • Dishwasher connection — cold water supply, waste connection and electrical isolation point
  • Washing machine connection — hot and cold supply, waste and standpipe installation
  • Waste disposal unit installation — InSinkErator and other brands, wiring coordination
  • Boiling water tap installation — Quooker and similar systems, including expansion vessel fitting
  • Pipework rerouting — moving supply and waste pipes to suit new kitchen layouts
  • Isolation valve installation — under-sink valves for all appliances and fixtures
  • First fix plumbing — rough-in of all supply and waste pipes before units are fitted
  • Second fix plumbing — final connections once units and worktops are in place.

First Fix vs Second Fix — Why Both Matter

In a kitchen renovation, plumbing happens in two stages. First fix happens before the units go in — this is when we run the pipework through walls and floors, position the supply and waste connections in the right place, and fit any concealed pipework or boxing. Getting this right at the first fix stage is critical — mistakes here are expensive to correct once the kitchen is installed.

Second fix is the final connection stage once the units and worktops are in place — connecting the sink waste, fitting the tap, hooking up the dishwasher and washing machine, and testing everything under pressure before signoff. We work to phased timelines so your kitchen fitter isn’t left waiting.

Boiling Water Taps — Quooker and Filter Tap Installation

Boiling water taps have become one of the most popular kitchen upgrades in Birmingham homes. Brands like Quooker, Fohen and Grohe require careful installation — a pressurised boiler tank under the sink, a cold water supply connection, and an electrical spur nearby. We install these systems regularly and ensure everything is set to the correct temperature, pressure and safety standards before handover.

If you’re fitting a filter tap, we’ll also advise on where the filter housing goes, how frequently it needs replacing, and whether a separate spout or combined system suits your setup best.

Working Alongside Kitchen Fitters and Builders

We’re used to working as part of a wider project team on kitchen renovations. If you’ve got a kitchen fitter or a main contractor managing the job, we can liaise directly with them on timing and phasing. We show up on time, do our part cleanly and efficiently, and stay in communication — because delays in one trade back up everyone else on the job.

We also carry out kitchen plumbing on new build properties and extensions where a kitchen is being added to an existing house. If you’re building a kitchen in a space that has no existing supply or waste connections, we’ll run everything from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the more common questions we get asked

Got questions about your kitchen plumbing? Here are some of the things our customers ask us most.

Do I need a plumber before the kitchen fitter comes in?

Yes, if you’re changing the position of your sink or adding new appliances that need plumbing. First fix work — running pipework to the right positions — needs to happen before units are fitted. We can coordinate timing with your kitchen fitter if needed.

Can you connect a dishwasher I've already bought?

Yes. We install customer-supplied appliances regularly. As long as the dishwasher includes the supply hose and waste hose (which they almost always do), we can connect it to your existing supply and waste points. If the connections need extending or a new standpipe fitting, we’ll include that in the quote.

Is installing a boiling water tap a big job?

It’s more involved than fitting a standard tap — there’s a pressurised tank under the sink, a cold water connection, and an electrical spur required. It’s typically 2–4 hours of work. The result is worth it: instant boiling and often chilled filtered water from a single tap.

My new kitchen has a Belfast sink — is the plumbing different?

Belfast and Butler sinks sit higher than standard sinks and require the waste trap to sit lower to the floor. The supply connections are also exposed rather than hidden inside a cabinet. We fit Belfast sinks regularly and will ensure the waste run and trap are positioned correctly before the sink goes in.

Can you move the soil pipe connection to a different wall?

Yes, though it’s more involved work depending on your floor type and property construction. We’ll assess the existing run, advise on the best route for the new position, and give you a clear quote. Moving soil pipes on ground floors is generally more straightforward than upper floors.

How quickly can you turn around a kitchen plumbing job?

For straightforward connections — sink, dishwasher, washing machine — we can often be with you within 24–48 hours. For larger first fix work on a renovation project, get in touch early to book your dates before the kitchen is delivered and the fitter is booked in.
